This month, we have Mike’s “other” band Acoustic Soup in the studio, playing a few songs and having a chat. The band, consisting of Mike (guitar & vocals), Arthur O’Hara (mandolin & vocals), Nils O’Hara (bass) & Carl Warner (percussion) will be playing at the next live Fishbowl (the first one of 2008!), at Morello in Matfield, Kent, on Sunday 13th January, starting at about 7pm.

Also on the bill will be Jake Boyle, who last played the Fishbowl in Summer 2006. The first hour of the evening will be an “open mic” slot for anyone who wants to come along and play a couple of original songs. Entry is free and the food there is FAB so come along!

This month’s Fishbowl podcast features The Stand, who came along to Carrot Cottage Studios earlier this week to play a few songs in session and to have a chat with Mike & Daren about what they’ve been up to and what they have planned.

The Stand will be playing at the next Fishbowl Acoustic Showcase at the Trinity Arts Centre in Tunbridge Wells on Saturday 15th December, along with Little Fish Big Pond (who?) and Seeker. Yesterday, Daren and I met up with New York duo Pete & J, who are over in the UK on tour to promote their new album "Dressed for Conversation".
